Everything going good in your life? Not perfect, but fairly good?Awesome!
I hate to break it to you, but it won’t last forever. I know, shocker! At some point you will be faced with a huge, mega, maybe almost faith-crushing ordeal.
How do I know? Jesus said so. In John 16:33. “In this world, you will have trouble.”
Great ! Super encouraging, right?
Right now in our young ladies Bible study, we’re going through the book of Esther. We just finished reading the first chapter, and up until now, our young heroine was living a pretty good life. Not perfect. Her parents died and she was raised by her cousin, Mordecai. She lived in a country where she had to hide her nationality. Because of that, she was probably a little sheltered, but, I imagine, living out her faith as best she could.
She doesn’t know it yet, but her whole world is going to be turned upside down. Her faith stretched and tested.
I want to encourage those of you who are where Esther was at this point, before she was ripped from her family and the only home she knew to be sent to the palace along with hundreds other women to join the king’s harem .
God is working in and around your life. When things are going good, it’s sometimes easier to see how He moves. Like, when a car pulls out of a stall right as you pulled in, in an otherwise filled parking lot. Or when you run into a friend at Starbucks right on the day when she needed someone to encourage her.
So, I want you to grab hold of a couple truths.
God is sovereign. And, He loves you. Romans 8:28 says, He works ALL things for your good. Now, when life is uneventful. Also, later, when cancer, death, or tragedy ransack your home.
He is working, moving, shaping the world around you and the world entirely. He is working behind the scenes to set things in motion to see you through this time. He was preparing for this day, so He can walk alongside you through it.
So what do you do during the uneventful times?
- Seek – Deepen your relationship with God – talk to Him, read His word.
- Trust – Practice trusting God in the little things, surrendering your worries to Him.
- Serve – Put your faith into practice by finding a place to serve.
And one more thing, here is the rest of John 16:33. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Tell me, what season of life are you going through right now? I’m here to pray with you through the uneventful and too eventful times.
Awesome emoji devotional, Ronnell! I’m in the over-eventful time of life where we’re adapting to a loved one’s sudden absence, 3 family members moving, job hunting, job changes… You get the idea. But God has it covered and I hang onto that truth as a lifeline. Thank you!
Thanks! Peace to you as you navigate through your season of change.
